For this month’s video, we have an interesting tip about adding precision to your Act! Activities. We all know Act! has a lot of custom options available to users, but do you know to what extent?
When creating an Activity in Act!, it’s easy to see how many options are available to you to fill in the details you need. There’s even a separate tab for any extra details and notes specifically. We’ve gone over a lot regarding activities in depth before in previous Kenbar blogs, all of which you find on our website as well.
All the fields in the Schedule Activity menu come with drop-down lists of options to choose from, whether it’s type, time, duration, etc (except location). However, you don’t always have to choose from those options. Specifically, for options like Start Time & End Time, as well as duration and Ring Alarm, you can enter any custom time you want. Any time on a clock and a number of minutes, hours, or days can be used in these fields. All you have to do is click on the field itself instead of the drop down list.
What’s also worth noting is that you can format these times however you want, and Act! will do the calculations to display them correctly. For example, you can use decimal points for hours, and Act! will automatically convert them to its counterparts in hours and minutes. You can also abbreviate any unit of time and Act! will understand. Or you can use only minutes and Act! will convert.
This works on all Activity types, as well as Notes in both the client and web versions of Act! However, when recording a history, times are static, and you must choose from the drop-down list.
